Asset Integrity

Safe, reliable, compliant

In the late 1990’s, few people were talking about the importance or implications of asset integrity. At the time, we were providing owners with the resources and information needed to keep their operations—and their product—moving safely.

With public scrutiny more intense than ever, Croix Ability Services continues to lead the way, helping our clients anticipate, prevent, manage, and mitigate potentially dangerous and costly conditions associated with their pipelines and facilities. Over the last 15 years, our integrity specialists have become highly engaged in the design process, in addition to maintenance programs. We can help mitigate threats before a project even breaks ground, and consider the entire asset lifecycle.

What we offer
We are a leader in pipeline and facilities integrity and risk management services for the oil and gas industry. With more than 70 professionals in offices across North America, we complete up to 300 turnkey integrity assessments each year. Our experts include In-Line Inspection (ILI) specialists, advanced materials engineers, and NACE-accredited corrosion and cathodic protection professionals. Our team can support both the integrity management process and engineering services to maintain the safe, reliable, and regulations-compliant performance of your assets.

Whether you are creating a new asset or optimizing existing operations, we can work with you at any lifecycle stage of your integrity management plan, offering the following core expertise.

  • Facilities Integrity
  • Pipeline Integrity
  • External Corrosion
  • Internal Corrosion
  • Materials (including Welding and Fracture Mechanics)
  • In-Line Inspection Services
  • Fitness for Service (Engineering Assessments)
  • Risk Management Programs
  • Third Party Audits
  • AC and DC Interference Mitigation

In Croix Ability Services, you’ll find a trusted resource with thousands of miles of pipeline experience in engineering and Pipeline Integrity Management System (PIMS) design, risk management, environmental consequence, data management, regulatory approvals, and overall quality processes.

Acquiring the social license to develop and operate pipeline infrastructure requires careful strategic planning and long-term sustainability thinking. Very few other firms offer a holistic and integrated approach with depth of complementary services to address your unique needs.

Safety Loss Management Systems (SLMS)
Because of recent requirements by both federal and local regulators in North America, pipeline owners and operators are incorporating elements of their existing Integrity Management Programs (IMP) into a more holistic corporate approach – SLMS.  Croix Ability Services has recently led several major pipeline companies in developing, implementing and auditing SLMS at a corporate and/or regional level.  We have the experience and subject matter experts in all elements of the SLMS, to do a thorough review and gap assessment of each, and create a comprehensive summary.

Data Management
Sound data management is at the core of our activities. Oil and gas projects and studies require many different data inputs from project information, field work and engineering efforts, and data providers such as regulators and industry associations. To assist with managing the compilation of this volume of information and create consistent and clear datasets, we offer scalable technology solutions that support project delivery or ongoing operations. Croix Ability Services has developed web-based applications for a variety of oil and gas clients. Our easy to access portals integrate a client’s data and our license free web mapping tools assist in the integrity decision making process. Our information support team is involved in overall project planning, orderly land development, successful facilities construction and progress. In addition to these operational phases, our approach extends into decommissioning.

There's a reason it's called integrity

Ziad Saad,

Vice President, Pipelines

“There are bridges that are hundreds of years old and serve their function reliably, traffic crosses them safely every day. However if you had left those bridges unattended to over hundreds of years, likely they wouldn’t be here today. Pipelines are very similar to that. Pipelines, as long as there is an integrity management program that is sophisticated and well developed they can last for a very long time.”

Dennis Zadery,

Director, Oil & Gas - Integrity

“Integrity is a type of imagined system or concept that owners and operators and organizations incorporate into their organizational structure to manage assets and manage the lifecycle of assets. Including the safety of assets, the liability of assets the overall efficiency and lifetime performance of assets.”

“One of the key elements when we build as we build new infrastructure and new big projects, we have learned over the years that you can build a lot of integrity upfront.”

“It is very valuable in a company like Croix Ability Services that we have both the integrity engineers and also the design engineers that design new pipelines but we also have environmental services, geotechnical services and survey and geomatics services. Those can be very complimentary in the application of pipeline design in general and pipeline integrity as well.”

“We can combine these complimentary expertise and apply that to solving different engineering problems to come up with more creative and better solutions.”

“We’re invested because at the end of the day when we go home and we want to live our lives, everything that is going on around us by these big companies that run assets, we are near and dear to those locations. So we would be impacted and affected.”

“We are the community.”

“Our job doesn’t end with designing the pipeline and it going through the ground. Our job does extend through the 50, 60, 70 years lifespan of that pipeline project.”
